Kidistan is committed to publishing content that is accurate, culturally authentic, age-appropriate, and genuinely useful for Indian children and their families. This Editorial Policy explains how we create, review, and maintain the content on our platform.
1. Our Editorial Mission
Kidistan’s editorial mission is to make India’s extraordinary cultural heritage accessible, engaging, and meaningful for children aged 5 to 14 and their parents.
Every piece of content we publish must serve one or more of these purposes:
- Help a child understand and connect with Indian culture, history, or tradition
- Entertain a child in a safe, age-appropriate way
- Support a parent in raising a culturally connected child
- Provide a practical activity that builds creativity and cultural literacy
2. Who Creates Our Content
All content published on Kidistan is created or reviewed by individuals with relevant expertise:
- Editorial oversight is provided by Tanvi, our Content Lead, who reviews all published content for cultural accuracy, age-appropriateness, and factual correctness before publication.
- Content writers are selected for their knowledge of Indian culture, regional traditions, and ability to write clearly for children and parents.
- Cultural accuracy reviews are conducted for content about specific regional traditions, festivals, or folk tales.
We clearly identify the author of each article. Where content is based on external sources, those sources are cited or referenced appropriately.
3. Research and Accuracy Standards
Before publishing any article, our writers and editors:
- Research the topic using credible, primary sources (regional literature, academic texts, established cultural institutions)
- Verify key facts independently from at least two sources where possible
- Note where multiple versions of a story or tradition exist and represent this honestly
- Avoid presenting any single regional version of a cultural tradition as universally applicable across all of India
We approach India’s cultural complexity with humility and openness.
4. Age-Appropriateness Standards
All content on Kidistan is assessed for age-appropriateness before publication.
- Language — Written in clear, accessible language appropriate for the target age range. Younger-reader content uses simpler vocabulary and shorter sentences.
- Themes — We do not publish content that includes violence beyond age-appropriate storytelling conventions, adult themes, frightening imagery, or content unsuitable for children in a school or family setting.
- Visual content — All images and illustrations are assessed for age-appropriateness and cultural sensitivity.
5. Cultural Sensitivity Standards
We are committed to:
- Representing all major Indian religions, regions, and communities with equal respect and authenticity
- Not caricaturing, stereotyping, or trivialising any cultural tradition
- Acknowledging regional diversity — not treating North India as “default India”
- Representing folk tales and cultural practices from all regions, not just widely-known ones
- Using culturally appropriate language and avoiding mistranslations
6. Corrections Policy
We are committed to correcting errors promptly and transparently. If a factual or cultural error is identified:
- We will review the concern within 5 working days
- If valid, we will correct the content and note the correction at the bottom of the article with the date
- We will not silently delete or alter content to hide errors

7. Advertising and Editorial Separation
Kidistan displays advertisements through Google AdSense. Our editorial decisions are entirely independent of our advertising arrangements. Advertisers have no influence over which topics we cover, how we cover them, or the opinions expressed in our content. We do not publish paid content disguised as editorial content.
8. External Links Policy
When we link to external websites, we do so because we believe the linked resource adds genuine value for our readers. We do not sell or exchange editorial links. External links are reviewed periodically and updated or removed if a linked resource becomes unavailable or inappropriate.
9. Updates to This Policy
This Editorial Policy may be updated as Kidistan grows. The date of the most recent update is shown at the top of this page.
